BB International
The Boys’ Brigade was founded by Sir William Alexander Smith on 4 October 1883 in Glasgow, Scotland. It is the world’s first uniformed youth organization and has spread all over the world with companies in over 60 countries.
Sir William Smith, a businessman, was a volunteer officer in Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers, and a Sunday School teacher. He realized the difficulty of maintaining order in a crowd of unruly Boys and keeping them in the church after Sunday School. To solve the problem, he devised a unique system of starting an organization for Boys as part of the church, based on Christianity and Discipline.
Simple forms of foot-drill, gymnastics, and games were introduced proved very popular. In 1886, the first BB Camp was held, in fact the start of camping for the youth. Scouting as an activity was introduced to the BB later by Lord Baden Powell, who was a Vice-President of the BB, even before the formation of the Boy Scouts.
The impact of The Boys’ Brigade lead to the formation of other uniformed youth organizations such as The Girls’ Brigade (1902), the Boy Scouts (1908) and the Girl Guides (1910). All trace their genesis to 1883 and William Smith.

How Can You Be Involved?
You can be a musician teaching our Boys to play the musical instruments or a sportsman teaching our Boys to play a certain sports? BUT Most importantly, we need Christians who have a heart to touch the lives of these Boys for Christ. We believe in Character Building and we hope to shape these lives positively during their most impressionable, teenage years. Do prayerfully consider, and talk to any one of our BB officers regarding this Ministry.
