Senior Fellowship

Vision

  • To be a source of encouragement and help to our seniors in worship and spiritual growth.
  • To give our seniors physical and emotional support in their old age.

Senior Fellowship (SF) started off as Senior Adult Fellowship (SAF) on 6 Dec 1998 with 20 members. We have grown in numbers over the years and took on the name of Senior Fellowship (SF).

Our members meet once a month on the 4th Sunday of each month from 11 am to 1 pm at Seminar Room 2. Topics ranging from health issues, legal matters, spiritual growth, mission work and community work are shared with us.

About two dozen seniors also meet regularly on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month from 2.30 pm to 5 pm at Seminar Room 2 for Bible Studies.

After our monthly meetings and Bible Studies, the seniors relax over food and drinks and have fellowship with one another.

On special occasions like the Lunar New Year, Mothers’ Day, Fathers’ Day, Senior Citizens’ Day as well as Christmas, seniors celebrate the occasions with outings or lunches at restaurants.

Most recent activities:

A group of 10 seniors including Ps Andrew and Molly Yeo went on a ‘Vacation with a Mission’ trip to Cambodia from the 4 – 8 Dec 2010. They were accompanied by David Khew, Methodist Missions Society (MMS) Assistant Director for Church Relations. He very kindly made all the arrangements for their trip there. The seniors visited the COSI Children’s Home, the Emmaeus Women’s Centre, the Cosy Hostel (where they joined them in their service) and the Methodist School in Cambodia. The trip was an eye-opener and they gained a broad overview of the work of the MMS.

At our latest SF meeting on Sun 23 Jan 2011, David Khew briefed us further on the work of the MMS in other Asian and South-East-Asian countries besides Cambodia.  He shared with us on how we could support the work through prayers, pledges, projects, sponsorship of students, etc.

Senior Fellowship will be lending our support to the sponsorship of students as well as the Faith Farm Project in the COSI Children’s Village where vegetables are grown, and farm animals are reared to supply the children’s needs there.

Church/Community Involvement

On a regular basis, several of our seniors are involved in our church and community projects such as weekly visitations at the Bethany Nursing Home, adhoc visits of our homebound seniors, MDO projects and weekly folding of church bulletins.
